Resource: Melodic Ostinato Song
Ostinatos are terrific to do with students. Patterns are taught in both literacy and numeracy and you'll find kids get quite excited when they find patterns in music. Melodic ostinatos are presented in this song - repeating patterns made up of both pitch AND rhythm. The ostinatos are all based on the pentatonic scale and in simple 4/4 time rhythms.
