While Louisiana may offer a seemingly good deal in its -30% transferable incentive for total and state expenditures related to producing a motion picture, there can be found a few significant disadvantages in filming there compared to other states.

While tax incentives induce economic advantages to that particular state, secondary economic benefits also take place. An example is film induced tourism or FIT. Nevertheless, Louisiana hosts hundreds of films, which have not increased or even experienced film induced tourism.

A number of other states in close proximity have both tax incentives and also have been observing film induced tourism for the past decade such as Georgia and North Carolina. Though seemingly perfect for a production that has a non-urban or suburban setting, Louisiana is incredibly identifiable and does not have that “Anywhere, USA” adaptability that other cities say Atlanta or Wilmington have. In contrast to Louisiana, North Carolina has shorelines that are comparable to that of California, minus the steep Hollywood production cost. Additionally, travel in and out of Louisiana, particularly New Orleans, just isn’t a piece of cake, especially since Hurricane Katrina’s devastation and the resulting infrastructural failures. Once more, Atlanta provides a really practical substitute for Louisiana, as Atlanta hosts the busiest airport in the country and provides very adaptable travel arrangements that any production officer could require. And also, EUE/ Screen Gems, a renowned movie and tv production company, are conveniently located six miles from Atlanta’s Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Louisiana has been struck really hard by the latest economic depression as well as natural disasters, forcing a number of locals to relocate somewhere else. The outflow of the labor force has proved to be damaging to the film industry as many laborers are now earning a living for other companies not located in Louisiana. Without a convenient airport nearby and a labor force that has been reducing within the last couple of years, the movie industry in Louisiana isn’t what it used to be. Even though big movies have been filmed there, they’re mostly computer animated and television shows are leaning more towards the production sites in North Carolina and Georgia. In fact, EUE/ Screen Gems is now home to over 9 tv programs this year, including a 9th Season of “One Tree Hill” which is currently being shot in Wilmington, North Carolina.

It is very essential to offer a functional location for shooting when selecting production studios to work with. As mentioned earlier, although Louisiana may offer cost-effective alternatives through extensive tax incentives, it does not offer a convenient urban location for filming. While New Orleans is definitely an enjoyable area rich in culture, it’s distinctive and identifiable, and truly cannot be used when searching for a “generic city” type feel. Consequently, if a film or television show needs urban scenes, chances are that they’ll have to go to a close convenient city, raising production costs with transportation fees for stars, staff, and crew. This hassle looks avoidable when EUE/Screen Gems production studios in Wilmington, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia have the 2 biggest stages eastern side of California.

As the cost of movie production continues to rise, tax incentives were approved in order to reduce production expenses and also encourage the domestic economic conditions in Louisiana. This Louisiana film tax credit is the latest anchor of movie financing equations.

There are many strange phenomenon that has found a place in our society. One of the more controversial points of discussion in this regard is the topic known as alien abduction. Although this is a very confusing and complicated subject, it is also very interesting and worthy of exploration.

Most will have a very difficult time exploring the concept of aliens, not to mention the idea that they may kidnap human beings. This multi-faceted mystery takes many forms, and it seems to pay no mind to an individuals race, religion, ethnicity, financial or social status. Many take the position that it is a real physical phenomenon, while others claim that it is the product of imagination, mental illness, or complete conjecture or fiction.

This possible issue boils down to the kidnapping of individuals without their consent. This will usually happen during the night while the individual is asleep, but this is not always the case. Some report that they suddenly wake up in the presence of a wide variety of creatures. Others report consciously floating through doors and windows through the utilization of some strange technology.

It seems that all reports of this nature are very sinister and foreboding. These abductors tend to be cold, callous, and even violent. Those who claim to be abducted cite the implementation of a wide variety of strange and cruel experiments. These things tend to be either medical, sexual, or a combination of both.

Those who begin to explore this subject will find a raging debate with both amateur explorers and professionals on both sides of the equation. Ultimately, there is no way to know exactly what is going on. There is, however, no doubt as to the sincerity of individuals who claim encounters, as well as both the long term and short term impact that these revelations have on the person.

There are many potential explanations cited by skeptics who do not believe in this phenomenon. Common explanations include hallucinations or nightmares, as well as another phenomenon known as sleep paralysis. Mental illness and other psychiatric disorders are also commonly cited as a potential reason for these episodes.

No matter what an individual ends up believing in regards to alien abduction, there is no doubt that it is a popular point of discussion. It has found its place in movies, television, and books, and it seems to be growing in popularity. At the end of the day, though it is an interesting topic, those who claim to have experienced this phenomenon walk away traumatized and forever changed on many levels.

If you want to watch a movie at the cinema, there are certain things you need to put up with. Traffic jam and long ticket booth lines are two of them. Sitting next to an annoying moviegoer is another. But if you got your own cinema at home, there’s no need to endure all of these things. In building one, it’s a good idea to go for a massive unit, as large screen HDTVs are ideal for your home theater system.

Just like in a movie house, the pictures are best enjoyed in a larger-than-life scale. Of course if you want to have a personal cinema, it’s best to come as close as possible to the real deal. When you switch off the lights and you grab a bucket of popcorn, you’ll be glad you purchased a television with a large screen.

Televisions with HD playback can showcase images having 1920 x 1080 pixels. Such resolution lets you enjoy more details, compared to what standard definition rivals can offer. When you pop in high-definition movies in the player, the striking clarity of images is hard to believe.

Even though you get a massive one, there’s no need to worry about it taking up much space. Many of today’s televisions sport incredibly thin profiles. While they come with their own stand, it’s possible to buy wall-mounting brackets that enable you to hang them up against the wall, like pieces of artwork.

Most homes will have massive televisions in them in the future. You can stay ahead of everyone if you get one in the present. Also, a lot of people take pride in purchasing high-quality AV components when coming up with their personal cinema. Undeniably, these electronics go well with TVs having spacious displays.

In buying, check out how many support for HDMI inputs are around. Of course the more HDMI docks are available, the more HD audio and video components you can use with the unit. Likewise, see how many other connectivity options are present for better multimedia playback, like USB and DLNA support.

Going diving among the sharks is something that takes a lot of courage there is no doubt about that, that isnt including the people that swim with the great whites and tiger sharks. There are so many locations (fiction of course) where people would not even feel safe in a shark's cage. So where on earth are these places?

Amity Island

Is there anyone in the world that would feel totally safe diving around in this area, I am pretty sure even Cheif Brody would find it hard. Jaws is of course the reason behind why people would never be seen diving here. This shark is a massive 25 feet long and weighs around 3 tons which means you are certainly going to need a “bigger boat” if this turns up during your shark diving session.

Aquatica

Sadly this is not a visit to the park in Orlando but a secret facility that is floating in the middle of the ocean containing scientists looking to cure Alzheimer's. So what is the issue with diving here, well for one the sharks have been given a much higher brain power which means they are faster, smarter and of course more likely to kill. Not only are there three of these sharks but they are very hard to kill indeed, worse than Jaws. No diving holidays should be spent here.

Kenny The Shark

So why is Kenny on the list, he isn't exactly going to go and hurt anyone, well it can simply be put down to the fact he is very annoying indeed. This shark was bored of the ocean so decided to jump out of the ocean and live on land, can someone tell him to go back. Throw him back is what I say!

In all seriousness, one of the best places to go has to be on one of those Red Sea diving holidays you are in no danger of being eaten alive or annoyed by talking sharks there.

Another year, another Oscar ceremony. Most of the awards went according to plan. The British were the big winners on the night, with Slumdog Millionaire scooping, well, nearly everything, and Kate Winslett getting the Oscar at long last. For me though, the thing that disappointed me the most was that Mad Mickey Rourke missed out on the Best Actor Oscar, one he was expected to walk away with. For me though I was really looking forward to seeing Mickey Rourke crazy things up again with yet another slightly insane acceptance speech.

The award eventually went to Sean Penn for his brilliant portrayal of gay rights activist Harvey Milk. Look – I am not saying that Sean Penn wasn’t worthy of the accolade. Far from it – his role was as iconic as it was important. But am I the only one that just loves the crazyness that Mickey brings to the often staged and insincere PR stunt that is the Oscars?

So many of the celebrities on the red carpet turned up, as always, perfectly groomed in sponsored outfits and monotonous black tuxedos. Mickey Rourke, on the other hand, turned up in a messy looking white suit. Of course he also wore his trademark designer sunglasses which have become part of his image in the awards season. Nuttiest of all was Rourke’s “Loki the dead chihuahua” necklace in tribute to his recently deceased pet, which he pointed out to every invterviewer he spoke to!

We were due for another wacky and memorable acceptance speech if Mickey Rourke had got the award. Who knows what he would have come out with on the stage, chihuahua memorial necklace, sunglasses and all? I’ll never forget his previous antics at the Golden Globes awards. And more recently he brought the house down at the Independent Spirit awards the night before the Oscars – see the video above.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some political manouvering going on behind the scenes that prevented Rourke from winning. Mickey himself had predicted he woudldn’t win because he’s pissed off too many hollywood hotshots in the past. “I stupidly said acting wasn’t a job for a real man. I threatened producers, raged at directors, forgot my agent’s name. I really burned my bridges. And a lot of people have long memories,” was the eerily accurate prediction from Mickey Rourke before the awards.

You gotta give it up for the Pennster however, his speech was certainly an interesting one. To begin with his thank-you’s were directed at the Academy, whom he referred to as “commie, homo-loving sons of guns!” Penn then pulled out a small scribbled bit of paper, donned his prescription glasses, and after a few “thank you’s,” proceeded with an impassioned plea for equal rights for gays and against the ban on gay marriages. Not quite as entertaining as Mad Mickey would have been – but better than gushing and thanking his mother for bringing him into this wonderful world.

Meanwhile the Mickey Rourke comeback continues!
