The state of Massachusetts takes extreme pride in its higher education system. It sports some of the finest universities in the nation, notably some Ivy League schools in the eastern part of the state through the “Knowledge Corridor” of community, state and other fine institutions in the West.

It also has an incredible number of grant and scholarship programs available to its state citizens. In fact, there are so many that they have to be split into two articles. This one is for Grants, i.e. scholastic aid based on financial need. There will also be one for scholarships, which are rewarded for academic excellence, good citizenship or other form of merit. Let’s get to it: Getting more information about masters scholarships can be to your benefit.

At the center of it all is the MASSGrant. It is the fundamental state grant and the center of any financial aid package along with the Pell and SEOG. To apply for it, a student must be a U.S. citizen, live in Massachusetts for at least a year, and graduate from an accredited secondary school. Like its federal counterpart, a FASFA form must also be completed. Like any grant, it’s based on need more than academics.

Also important is the Cash Grant Program, which is designed to assist in non-tuition related expenses such as text books, fees and similar costs. It is a compliment to Massachusetts’ Need-Based Tuition Waver Program and is particularly designed for students who would be denied enrollment without it.

Massachusetts also realizes that there are a number of potential students who can’t enroll full time because of family or other reasons. Therefore, they also have the Part Time Grant. It was specifically designed to assist those who must work, are single parents or cope with other limitations. It does require its applicants to attend an on campus or online college for a minimum of six credit hours and can pay anywhere from $200 per semester to full tuition.

There are two grants of interest for those who are of less fortunate circumstance. The first is the Foster Care Grant Program, which is specifically designed for foster children under the age of 24 and good for any school in the continental U.S. Depending on circumstance, it can provide up to $6,000 annually. The other is Public Service Grant, which is for children of state employees who lost their lives in service of Massachusetts. It can cover the entire annual tuition. You can always find more information about educational scholarships on the web.

Finally, the state also provides a much more specialized grant called the Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant. It is to assist teaching assistants and similar personnel get the education to become fully certified school teachers. It can contribute anywhere from $625 to $7,500 a year. The applicant does need to be a school employee for at least a year.

As said before, Massachusetts also provides its share of college for free and Tuition Waivers. You can find more information from Test Drive College.

You may feel a bit overcome when it comes to planning a graduation party, but with just a small bit of creativity and some effort you will easily create the party that everyone will love.

Creating a great graduation party:

There is no need to be worried about planning a great party. There are many tips and ideas that will make the day a great success. The important thing is that you plan things out carefully and methodically in order to make the day turn out just right.

The first thing you need to do is figure out the type of party you want to have. There are casual affairs where everyone can show up in more laid back clothing or it can be more formal and require suits and ties. Another thing that can be implemented is a theme. Many grads love having Hawaiian themed parties where there are tiki torches and grass skirts. It is likely that no matter what kind of affair you have, the grad will remember the day fondly.

Once you have made the decision on what kind of party to throw you will need to figure out where to have it. An outdoor party works best for the time of year that graduation occurs. It makes for the opportunity to have a cookout or even have a catered affair. If there is not enough space at your own home then you can always rent out some space at a local park shelter. The possibilities are truly endless.

Next will come the issue of when to have the party. Keep in mind that the new grad may have a plan of their own on that first night of newfound freedom. However, there can always be a party the next night.

After all of the plans are laid out the guest list can be planned out. There will be many relatives and close family friends that will wish to be included in the happenings, and be sure to include all of those close friends that were acquired throughout the years.

The food is going to be an important part of the day. Plan out a menu that will please everyone present and will make the grad happy. If you are having an outdoor gathering try cooking out. Grilled food is always a crowd pleaser and there are many different directions that you can go with the food. A more casual indoor affair could include pizzas or other types of carry out items.

The last thing that you need to think about will be the decorations. There are many different graduation themed party favors as well as plates, cups, and balloons.

There is no need to worry about the details of any bash. There are plenty of graduation party ideas to make it a night that everyone will remember.

Planning the perfect party for your newly graduated student is something that is important to you. There are many great tips and ideas that will help you get through the day without any hassles. By implementing a few plans you will be able to create a day that any grad will remember.

As incoming freshmen, young men and women huddle over their computer staring at their university’s “student life” section trying to find a glimpse into what college life will be like. However, these webpages often appear fraudulent, with posing students smiling and laughing over a dictionary.

If you want to know what the real thing is like, check this out.

Try social networking sites, like myspace, youtube and facebook where you can interact with students already attending.

As an example, here is a clip, courtesy of youtube, of a flashmob at the University of California, Davis.
